Safety is paramount at J. Calnan and Associates and we enforce the ultimate safety standards at all times. Our team is committed to an incident and injury free workplace as indicated by our excellent Experience Modification Rating of .86. Our commitment to safety goes beyond the required OSHA safety practices. Our operations are guided by an established safety policy that is based on a sincere desire to eliminate personal injuries, occupational illnesses and damage to equipment and property, as well as to protect the general public whenever the public comes into contact with or is affected by the company's work. Therefore, we treat a site policy infraction in the same manner as a safety violation.

It is expected that our employees make a personnel commitment to support the safety goals of our company. The establishment and maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment is of prime importance to our company. Responsibility for achieving this is shared equally by all employees of the company, from our president, through all levels of management, to the field engineer, and administrative assistant. Our team includes a full-time safety officer who creates a customized site-specific training program for each project. All field personnel have received OSHA 30-hour, CPR and first-aid certifications. Management, supervisors and foremen are charged with the responsibility of preventing the occurrence of incidents or conditions that could lead to occupational injuries or illness.

We also have several programs in place to serve as constant safety reminders.  Our Safety Sticker Program ensures that all subcontractors assigned to a project have been certified with our safety officer for that specific project.  They have a number that correlates with their name prominently displayed on their hard hat so that anyone can report a safety violation at any time.  In addition, we have a Kids Care Safety Program put in place on our private school campuses where our safety officer talks to the students about the importance of construction safety.  They then draw a picture depicting what safety means to them and their artwork is displayed upon entering the jobsite.  This gets the campus and children thinking about safety and also serves as an important reminder to the tradesmen about the environment in which they are working.

Under no circumstances will the standards of safety be lowered or overlooked in the interests of time or profit. Safety rules and regulations are put into place for the protection of our employees, subcontractors, clients and the general public.
