J. Calnan & Associates, Inc. Helps to Improve the Classroom Experience of The Park School
Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for Classroom Addition and Renovations in Brookline, MA

6/20/2007, Quincy, MA -- The Park School, J. Calnan & Associates, Inc. and Chan Krieger Sieniewicz, recently held a groundbreaking ceremony on the school’s construction site to mark the start of a new classroom addition and existing building renovations project. The project includes a 17,000-square-foot classroom addition to the existing main building and 7,500 square-feet of renovations to the school’s existing classrooms and library. The addition will be built at the rear of the main building and connected to the library by a new bridge. The project also includes revisions to the school’s driveway, expansion of the surface parking area, and utility upgrades. Construction is scheduled to be complete for the opening of school in September 2008.

The purpose of this project is a commitment to improve the classroom experience for The Park School’s students in grades one through five by enlarging and updating instructional spaces. Beginning in September 2008, the number of students per class in Grades 1 – 5 will be reduced from sixteen to fourteen, and the number of sections at each grade level will increase from three to four. As a result of this project, overall enrollment will grow modestly to approximately 540 students.

Quincy-based J. Calnan & Associates, Inc., one of New England’s leading construction management firms specializing in pre-construction services and challenging construction management projects, will serve as construction manager and execute the designs of the Cambridge-based architect, Chan Krieger Sieniewicz and Boston-based engineer, RDK. This is the second project that J. Calnan & Associates, Inc. has managed for The Park School in two years.
