J. Calnan & Associates, Inc. and Sheskey Architects break ground at MetroWest YMCA

8/31/2007, Quincy, MA -- J. Calnan & Associates, Inc., one of New England’s leading construction management firms specializing in pre-construction services and challenging construction management projects, recently marked the start of the MetroWest YMCA’s construction project at a recent groundbreaking ceremony on the Framingham construction site. The renovation and expansion project includes a 10,000-square-feet facility addition, bringing the total building size up to 50,250-square-feet and significant upgrades to the Old Connecticut Path facility.

The benefits of the renovation and expansion will include an open and spatial front entrance and Member Services area; installation of an elevator for both floors; improved Child Watch Room; an ADA compliant toddler and pre-school playground system; doubling the size of the Wellness Center; increasing the Teen/Family Lounge area; Family/Special Needs Locker Room improvements; Adult and Youth Locker Room upgrades; fully renovating and expanding the Body, Mind, Spirit Room for yoga and pre/post partum classes; new multi-purpose classrooms; and parking additions and landscape improvements.

The last major renovation and expansion the MetroWest YMCA received was in 1987. Facility construction is scheduled to occur until spring 2008. Quincy-based J. Calnan & Associates, Inc., serves as construction manager and is executing the designs of Quincy-based Sheskey Architects.
